Innovation in Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)

Economic Sustainability through Stationary Modular Engineering

The competitive landscape of the global security screening market is shifting beyond simple detection performance toward economic sustainability, encompassing both operational efficiency and cost reduction.

The stationary gantry architecture applied to the E3S 690 is a core solution that fundamentally overcomes the structural limitations of conventional rotating CT systems, dramatically reducing the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) incurred throughout the equipment's entire life cycle.

Minimizing Initial Purchase Costs

Through its stationary design with no mechanical rotating parts, the E3S 690’s initial purchase cost is more than 30% lower than the rotating models of global competitors. Furthermore, by fundamentally eliminating the root causes of frequent breakdowns, it enables economical operations by reducing maintenance costs and Mean Down Time (MDT) to 50% of existing levels.

Revolutionary Reduction in Maintenance Costs by Eliminating Moving Parts

Conventional rotating CT systems inevitably rely on high-wear mechanical components, such as slip rings and high-load bearings, to rotate gantries weighing hundreds of kilograms at high speeds. The strong centrifugal forces and micro-vibrations generated during high-speed rotation shorten the lifespan of these components, serving as the root cause of frequent replacement cycles and high maintenance costs.

In contrast, the stationary CT system of the E3S 690 fundamentally solves maintenance issues through its 'Solid State' multi-view design, which completely eliminates physical rotating bodies. The system acquires data using only electronic switching technology with nine sets of X-ray sources and detectors fixed inside the gantry. Because there are no mechanical moving parts to cause friction and wear, the failure rate is significantly lower, directly resulting in a revolutionary reduction of more than 30% in maintenance costs compared to conventional rotating systems.

Processing Speed: Simultaneously Achieving Innovation in Image Quality and Throughput

The E3S 690 overcomes the limitations of traditional rotating CT systems to simultaneously achieve innovation in both image quality and throughput. Conventional rotating CT systems face structural limitations where increased belt speeds inevitably lead to motion blur due to physical gantry rotation speed constraints, causing a sharp decline in detection rates. However, SST LABS’ Stationary CT method eliminates rotating parts and instead uses electronically precise X-ray beam control, resolving the dilemma between "speed" and "image quality." By utilizing 9 generators to acquire images simultaneously without the need to wait for a 360-degree rotation it maintains zero image distortion even at high-speed belt conditions (0.24 m/s), which is 10-20% faster than rotating systems (0.18~0.2 m/s). This allows for the high-speed processing of over 250 items per hour while ensuring superior image quality. Additionally, metal artifact distortion, which typically occurs when X-ray beams pass through metallic objects in rotating systems, has been effectively minimized thanks to the stationary gantry design and stable data acquisition environment.
